Whole Roasted Garlic
Cut off the top 1/2 inch of the whole garlic heads.. Do not remove papery skin  Drizzle each head with 1 tbsp of the olive oil, a good pinch of the salt and black pepper
Place the heads upright in a shallow dish just large enough to hold them  Dot each head with a knob of butter  Roast uncovered for 20 minutes
Cover loosely with foil and bake until the cloves are soft and easily pierced with the tip of a sharp knife, about 30 minutes longer   Let cool  Squeeze out each clove 
Can do this while roasting veges for family roast few cloves add nice "sweet" flavour to gravy
Nice spread on fresh bread with a little cheese.
